While teeth whitening is often looked at as a cosmetic procedure that is frequently practiced by adults, many teens would like to have whiter teeth. Teeth can loose their brightness as a result of wear and tear, diet and a number of different issues. While a tooth whitening procedure is a good way to restore this brightness, it can leave your teen's teeth feeling sensitive. As a teen, this feeling can be overwhelming. Fortunately, there are a few tips that you can use to help your teen alleviate this sensitivity and discomfort.

Coat Their Teeth in Oregano Oil

You may already be familiar with oregano since it is a common ingredient in different dishes. In addition to this, oil is removed from the herb and used as a natural pain reliever. Oregano contains anodyne properties and these properties are great for soothing any kind of dental pain. You can use the oregano oil by warming it up by placing the bottle of oil in a pot of hot water. Do not boil the water while the oregano oil is in the pot. The heat from the water should be enough to slightly warm the oil. Use a dropper to directly apply the oregano oil to the areas of your teen's teeth. You can also use a Q tip to help evenly distribute the oil. Inform your child that they should not drink or eat for at least an hour.

Make Your Teen Chamomile Tea

Chamomile seems to be the herb that is used to treat anything from inflammation to pain. The herb is often used as a solution for dental discomfort because it is classified as a calming herb. The calming properties in chamomile allow it to relax the body and ease any pain. In order to create a chamomile tea for your teen, you will need fresh chamomile. Soak the fresh chamomile in a pot of hot water and allow it to soak for several hours. Once you can no longer see the bottom of the pot, strain the herbs from the mix and reheat the tea. Give the tea to your teen to drink throughout the day. The should quickly notice a difference in how their teeth feel.

Dealing with sensitivity after a teeth whitening is difficult for anyone especially teenagers. Therefore, use these tips to ensure that your teen is able to ease their sensitivity and enjoy their brighter smile.
